This message was preached by Pastor Jesse Boyd on New Years Eve, 2023 at New Testament Christian Fellowship in Conover, North Carolina. It is the second of his exegetical sermons on Hebrews Chapter 8 in the larger exposition of the Book of Hebrews covered by the shared teaching of the NTCF Elders and its missionaries.
Moving on from the SUMMATION INTERJECTED in verses 1-2, the very present reality of the manger in Bethlehem, we come to the heavenly SETTING ILLUMINATED in Hebrews 8:3-6. That setting has a MINISTRATION, sown in multiplied in the Church; a MILIEU, both the heavenly archetype and the heavenly antitype of the earthly type; and a MINISTRY, more excellent and rooted in a better covenant with better promises.
At the end of the day, it’s all about MESSIAH. It’s only ever and will only always be about Him, the Word of God made flesh. And, the ultimate fulfillment of His New Covenant with “with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah” (Jeremiah 31:31) is foreshadowed in a Jewish ceremony given to the New Testament churches as an ordinance, to do in remembrance “till he come” (I Corinthians 11:26).
Hallelujah, we have “such an high priest, who is set on the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in the heavens” (Hebrews 8:1). Let this present reality, and all that follows in Hebrews 8, be our EVER-PRESENT CONFIDENCE in these evil times, days of Christian persecution in America.
