This message was preached at New Testament Christian Fellowship on November 29, 2020. It is the first of a 7-part miniseries delivered during the Advent Season to serve as a fitting introduction to the glorious portrait portrayed in Revelation 21. Accentuating principles from Proverbs 11 , this series highlights unsung heroes and details from the birth narrative of Jesus Christ while also detailing aspects of the believer’s future expectation and hope that ultimately culminates in a new heaven and a new earth.
Part 1 is about the believer’s expectation and hope that does not and cannot die with him, quite unlike the end of the expectation and hope of the wicked (Proverbs 11:6). As Simeon’s expectation in Luke 2 didn’t die with him, neither does the blessed hope of any believer. A shining example of this in recent history is the testimony of the Cambodian Church as it faced the imminent arrival and terror of the Khmer Rouge in 1975.
