sowing sparingly
Monday Night House Church in a Travel Trailer
Greetings beloved, those that follow our journeys for the Word of God and the Testimony of Jesus Christ. “The LORD is good, a strong hold in the day of trouble; and he knoweth them that trust in him” (Nahum 1:7).
This post will be brief. Primarily, we covet you prayers. On Friday morning, my brother and I will be embarking on our cross-country trip out to Washington State and back. Please pray for our safety and abundant opportunity to proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ publicly. The cities we target will depend much upon the weather. As we concentrate northward, please pray that the Lord gives us sunny skies, ice-free roads, warmer than normal temperatures, and plenty of audience.
In recent days, the Lord has convicted my heart about all the missed opportunities from our last journey. True, as I pedaled across America on a bicycle, there were many opportunities to proclaim the Gospel and many people heard. But, the Lord keeps bringing II Corinthians 9:6 to my mind as he initially did back on that beach in Olympic National Park the day before I completed that coast-to-coast ride. Heretofore, I sincerely believe that Full Proof Gospel Ministries, in numerous instances, has sowed seeds of the Gospel sparingly; therefore, we have reaped sparingly. It is time to surrender ALL to the Lord Jesus Christ and sow bountifully that we may reap bountifully. May this upcoming journey to Washington reflect such conviction. We are fervently praying that the Lord will manifest himself in powerful and miraculous ways as we travel for the next few weeks. Please pray that we will be obedient to his leading, fully available to proclaim the Gospel, and completely adaptable to His schedule and His timing.
As for Jamie and little Bethany, they will be flying down to Guatemala in Central America on January 25th, returning, Lord willing, on February 1st. Please pray for their safety and that God will use them mightily to sow seeds of the Gospel in a far off land.
Jamie and Bethany are heading to Guatemala.
Before signing off, I must share a little joy overflowing in the Lord. In my last update, I explained how we have started a house church that meets on Monday nights in our travel trailer. I also mentioned that Casey (a young man who accepted Christ on the streets last spring when I was in town) has been attending faithfully, being hungry for discipleship. Casey continues to grow in the Lord and is exhibiting a true heart for obedience and a clear understanding of the Scriptures. Thank you for your prayers in this matter. Also, Casey, Matthew, and I have all been witnessing to Samantha, Casey’s friend. She came to our church meeting once and has maintained contact with us for several weeks. Sam has never been to church, and the Gospel is a completely new thing for her. At first, she was somewhat hostile, but the Lord has continued to unexpectedly put her into our paths. Anyway, to make a long story short, Samantha gave her heart to Jesus Christ last Thursday night. She has been truly born again into the Kingdom of God (John 3:3). As our house church body has added another member, our task toward discipleship remains grave. Please pray for both Casey and Sam as we continue to disciple them. The next several weeks will be crucial, for both Matthew and I will be on the aforementioned road trip. Thus, thanks to the wonders of technology, we will be conferencing on Monday nights on our cell phones with both Casey and Sam. Please pray that the Lord will continue to use us as we work through the Gospel of John and seek to embolden one another in the joy of the Lord.
As for Samantha, I told her that I would be sharing her salvation with you all. She personally requested your prayers, for she is a new believer and her entire family is lost. You better believe that the Enemy will be out to spiritually discourage and dismantle. Please pray that the Lord will put a hedge of protection around her and that she will hold fast the profession of her faith without wavering (Hebrews 10:23). When Matthew and I get back to North Carolina in a few weeks, our church body hopes to baptize her as a public profession of her faith and an initial step of obedience in her spiritual walk (I Peter 3:21). Unfortunately, this time of year might make a baptism in the Jacob’s Fork River a little untenable. But, we do have a backup option—my parents’ huge hot tub.
“The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen” (Revelation 22:21).
