“Arise, walk through the land in the LENGTH of it and in the BREADTH of it” (Genesis 13:17).

On 3.1.2021, we got our feet wet in the Atlantic Ocean off Cape Hatteras, North Carolina and began walking the LENGTH (#TheLongWalkUSA) of the United States with a CROSS and an American flag in distress. 8,118 miles later, we reached the Pacific Ocean in Northern California (10.10.2024). Along an unbroken route across 20 states and 251 counties, we sounded an alarm, the same alarm sounded by Teddy Roosevelt at the turn of the 20th century:

“No prosperity and no glory can save a nation that is rotten at heart.”

On 1.3.2025, we began walking the BREADTH of the land, various spur arms and loops off the main coast-to-coast route. The United States of America is and remains in big trouble with the Lord. We must continue to warn them, both Jew and Gentile, in the spirit of watchmen upon a wall (Ezekiel 3:17), taking up our cross along her highways and byways and crying out to God to bring Holy Ghost revival to America’s churches and spiritual awakening to her streets.

The ultimate BREADTH walk is America’s age-old east-west divider, the Mississippi River. On 3.16.2026, to commemorate the 5-year anniversary of #TheLongWalkUSA Cape Hatteras starting line, we took up the cross and started walking from the end of the road in Plaquemines Parish, Louisiana—the mouth of the Mississippi. Our goal is the source of the Mississippi, Lake Itasca in Minnesota, and then on up to the end of the American road and the Canadian border at Grand Portage. We’ll pursue this BIG RIVER ROUTE (#TheLongWalkUSA_BigRiver) as long as it takes.

the montana hate crime

On November 12, 2022, after 5,543 miles of walking with an “Are You Ready?” CROSS through 17 states and 210 counties without incident, the FPGM TEAM suddenly fell victim to a violent assault and HATE CRIME on the side of a remote US Highway in Madison County, Montana. They were literally minding their own business at the end of a long day of walking in the bitter cold when suddenly forced to defend themselves and each other from a madman and his buddies who threatened, “Your kind ain’t welcome in Montana.” This hate crime was then furthered by the Madison County Sheriffs Department and aided and abetted by elected officials all the way up to the Attorney General of the State of Montana. Thanks to an anonymous whistleblower who released official police body camera and dash camera footage to the public, however, none of these “good ole boys” got away with it. The Lord fully vindicated and delivered His servants, and the walk continued to the Pacific Ocean. Christian persecution in America is very real.

Never presume! Never assume! The first encounter of the day was barely 200 yards into the walk along Highway 23in Plaquemines Parish. A sheriffs deputy pulled right up on my two teenage children as they walked on the shoulder with a cross and a flag, blue lights flashing. From a distance, I watched and thought “Uh Oh.” Based on Madison County, Montana or Gaston County, NC I could have presumed the worst and rushed to the scene to “intervene,” but the Lord restrained me. I watched an officer talking to my children suddenly give each of them a big bear hug and then take a selfie with them. It then looked like they were praying together. You see, I could have presumed very wrongly about a police officer in the bayou of Louisiana because of what a wicked Deputy Dan Wyatt in Montana or a wicked Officer Austin Hildebrand in North Carolina did to us while walking with a cross. That may have been understandable, but it would have been wrong. You see Deputy LaFrentz is also a pastor of a down here, and he was so excited to see some folks walking with a cross in his neck of the woods that he turned on the blue lights to pull over, hug their necks, and pray over them. Christian, never ever assume or presume about an entire group of people simply because one in said group does you wrong! There is a lot of that going these days. And don’t be hasty to rush to a scene under the color of presumption. You might such “intervene” to interrupt a divine appointment or an edifying moment. #thelongwalkusa #thelongwalkusa_bigriver

After continuing our teaching through II Peter 2 this morning remotely, from a dining room table in Jackson, MS … we’ll be heading to the starting line of #TheLongWalkUSA Great River Route, way down there at the mouth of the Mississippi. X marks the spot at the end of the road. The two X’s situated just above, about 14 miles of walking into it, are the locations of the two Confederate forts that once guarded the Head of the Passes and the opening of the Mississippi—Forts Jackson and St. Phillip. What David Farragut, a southerner by birth, did lead in the Union Naval Fleet on the night of April 24, 1862 defied all conventional wisdom and is a history lesson in the enduring truth of Proverbs 28:1. There was no way wooden ships could survive an attempt to pass these heavily gunned forts, no way, they said! Flag Officer Farragut showed them otherwise. It was a bold move and made a hellish spectacle, but the fleet ultimately pushed through the smoke and up the Mississippi. Yes, one man can be right when the rest are wrong. In Noah’s day, millions were wrong while only 8 stood by God’s Word (2 Peter 2:5). We need to stand on the Word like Noah, when all the world despises it, and we ought to be more like Flag Officer Farragut when faced with everything the world fears. Have you ever seen the 2020 “Jasper Mall” documentary film? It’s a bit of a dive into the dying American shopping mall scene with a focus on a particular mall in Jasper, Alabama. We know it well, and Jasper wasn’t too far out of our way yesterday. We decided to walk a few laps around the old mall and Josiah found Mike, head of mall security featured in the film. He’s still there and never took time to to even watch it. He was a very friendly fellow and responded gracefully to a young man from North Carolina barging into his office when no one answered his knocking and the door was unlocked. “Hey Mike, I’m Josiah from North Carolina, and I am a big fan … “ We told him about our failed Israel plans, our attempts to salvage it with another walk across America, and how I stumbled on the documentary one evening while walking across America the first time. I spoke of the spiritual problems of America and how we need to turn back to the Lord. It was a blessing to speak with Mike about Jesus and to give him a Gospel tract. He grew up in Australia and long ago owned an exotic zoo in another part of Alabama. He has helped keep the Jasper Mall afloat for a while now, and hey, a nice Rural King has now moved into the former Sears, exactly what went down with an old K-Mart in my neck of the woods. #fpgmtestimony #thelongwalkusa

Finish what You’ve started in me Lord. Well, I love, I love what You’re doing in me … Finish what You’ve started. I know You will in me Lord Indeed, it’s a great promise from the Lord. For, “he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ” (Philippians 1:6). I’d appreciate your prayers as I come out of a bout of pneumonia while trying to finish up a cross-walking spur begun by Team Yeshua this summer from downtown Missoula and aiming to connect up with #TheLongWalkUSA main route as it passed through Seeley Lake. By God’s grace, and despite feeling pretty lousy, I finally finished walking every mile of highway asphalt in Madison County.

How appropriate that the last mile of asphalt here in Madison County started off with a great encounter. After the camera was turned off, we told our story to Jennifer and talked about how God takes what men mean for evil and uses it for great good; and I assured her that we were walking out of Madison County with nothing but fond memories.
