an inheritance from nepal
Greetings in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ! The day is coming when Messiah will take possession of an inheritance, that which is rightfully His: an inheritance of all nations, an inheritance of the heathen, even in uttermost corners like Nepal. In that day, when a literal physical Jesus Christ returns to set up an earthly Kingdom to rule and reign for a thousand years and to fulfill all prophecy, God the Father says of His Son regarding that inheritance: "Thou shalt break them with a rod of iron; thou shalt dash them in pieces like a potter's vessel" (Psalm 2:9). Those are the days of judgment. But, praise God, now are the days of salvation; and Christ is gathering unto Himself an inheritance of grace at uttermost corners even before He comes to rule with righteousness and a rod of iron. And, that inheritance of grace, the Church, will rule and reign with Him. Hallelujah . . . the Church, the mystery of Jew and Gentile together in the Body of Christ, can claim a genuine inheritance, even from Nepal.
Let's give glory, power, and honor to the Creator Almighty, who first loved us, for what has transpired during these last two months. We would like to praise God and thank you for continuously praying for the work of the ministry in this corner of the world, Nepal.
In the midst of regular street preaching, one day, we met a couple of guys from a cult, named Church of God. They say that you have to observe the Passover and worship the "mother god," the second wife of a Korean sinful human Aan Sang Hong, the so called "second christ." One of them, the leader, started to have a discussion with me, my dear wife Bimu, and our friend John. He showed me a few verses, trying to prove his wrong doctrine, picking out only parts of the verses. Then I showed him how the Passover started and how its shadow came to be fulfilled in the Cross. They questioned foolishly about the regular communion we partake OFTEN and about the celebration of Christmas on December 25, accusing us of adding up to the Scriptures. He said that we had to buy the Lord. And my big question was, "Are you going to buy the Creator of heaven and earth?" Then I quoted him a few verses: John 3:36, Eph 2:8-9, Isaiah 30:15, etc. He did not want to look at 1 Cor. 11 about the command to have communion OFTEN. Now he was trying to avoid the Word, but in the beginning he was trying to teach me how to read the Bible. Then I tried to force him to open the Bible, and he got afraid and hit me twice. A big crowd gathered up and three policemen showed up with arms from the police station just across the street. The officer grabbed my hand and at first he asked his helper to take me into custody, but I refused to go and he kept the other quiet. Then he said, "Every one has the right to preach, but no body can interrupt. You go this way and you go the other way." We praised God for this saying about our great freedom in Nepal right now, and we just left the spot.
This is what is going on with us in terms of ministry: We go out everyday from the Gospel Center. Our team went out to Arghakhachi with the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ and some medicines for a school. You can see Brother John preaching to the children and the teachers in a school at Dhungeshera, just before handing out the gift of medicines and some sport items to the children. Then, they visited many villages with the Gospel.
In the midst of regular outreaches in Kathmandu City, we went to Lamjung for a couple of days to preach and pray for the area that the Lord would help us to start a church in that academic center. I heard that many churches celebrated so called "GOD, Gospel Outreach Day" inside the churches, but we were in the mountain where nobody goes with the Gospel. It seems that this generation is going to TRY to preach the Gospel only one day of the year, celebrating GOD. What's the world coming to? But God also gave us another opportunity to proclaim His Gospel at the Bhaktapur Hindu temple sites. Our team of five preached with the hailer and gave out hundreds of tracts, even though we often met Hindu campaigns to demand the only Hindu kingdom back. For that they are collecting thousands of signatures from the orthodox hindus. We feel like the window is still wide open and we should do the work of the Lord while it is day. So we preached in the Balaju Chowk also and the Word went out powerfully.
Then, the Lord gave us an awesome opportunity to witness a baptism program in Chaubah, Kapilbastu. Fourteen people got baptized and they wanted to celebrate the ceremony by preaching the Gospel. So after the program, we had the communion together, and then after food, we bicycled for almost one and half hours in the parching heat to get to Bhangala village: consisting of 26 houses, located on the bank of a big river, and surrounded by dense forest in all directions. I felt that nobody would expect to see a village in such a place. The team of 17 evangelists went house to house and preached the Gospel. Out of 10 bicycles, mine was the only one to have a flat tire in that dirt road, and then I had to cross a river and take it to a repair shop in the dark evening. A small flash light helped me a lot while I asked everyone to leave and get home before it got dark. So God helped me to fix the tire and I alone returned to our base. I always enjoy the difficulties for the Gospel and feel like I'm in the right path. But I enjoyed a lot the outreach as I preached to many people personally about Christ, comparing Him with the wicked, sinful, and cursed hindu gods and goddesses. It was great to give them the Light. Please pray for those precious souls living in the middle of nowhere. May God draw them unto Himself, we beseech!
There are other exciting stories from Chaubah: The Lord healed Mrs. Maya from devil possession. She joined with us in the outreach. She even rode on her own bicycle whereas she used to think before that the demon was going to kill her. She is happy in the Lord now, and the deliverance was very big for her. I taught her some ways to share the Gospel using her own testimony. Then another lady, a mother of four, was left alone with the kids when her husband ran away one night and still not in contact. Though being the daughter of a famous witch doctor of that district, she came to the feet of the Lord. I encouraged her not to worry, but to pray as a believer in Christ. Indeed, the Lord is at work in that corner, and we need to pray for more souls to come to know the Lord.
Then we saw a very poisonous snake in the gate of the house where we were sleeping outside in that very hot night. We killed it, and the girls took it away. They are common in that part of the country in summer, and many people die due the snake bites every year. The Lord really saved us. Even at Bhangala village we saw two big snakes about 12 feet long; I had never seen such big ones in the wild before. They did not go away almost for an hour until we threw some rocks at them. Real beasts!
We are still trying to find a land for the church at Chaubah. I looked at a few parcels, but they are big plots and expensive. So we would like to request you to pray that the Lord provides one of His choice and according to our budget. Yes, the Lord has provided some money for that and we are feeling very bad for not being able to use it for the purpose. So please pray for this matter as we are talking with an owner. The main problem is that these landlords look down on these poor believers and nobody tells them that some land is for sale. So, now I myself am taking the initiative to find some ground.
There is another cult from Korea called Moonies who says that they want to unite all the religions under a new truth. According to them, the Moon was a second Christ for the Christians, a second Buddha for the Buddhists, and so on. We met one of them in the street on the way back from Bhaktapur. We shared the True Gospel and showed Mr. Sapkota what the Word says about the second coming of Christ and about true salvation. We found out that he had no clue about what the sin is. I told him that Mr. Moon was a human like us, and we can't hear the thoughts of billions of people in the world. I asked him even not to listen to me, but read the Word of God Himself. Finally, he requested to have a Bible and we gave him a NT along with our contact info; and we took his information also. Please pray for him.
Then another such one happened to come into our Gospel Center one Saturday afternoon while we were talking right after the fellowship. Mr. Khatri also heard the Gospel and took one NT. God is using the Gospel Center. According to him, this cult is reaching the poor students who can't afford to live and study in Kathmandu. It gives them a place to stay and then requires them to raise some funds in the streets, saying that they are students in a university.
So, we have been busy doing the Lord's Work in Nepal while it is day, asking the Lord go give the heathen unto out inheritance. On our team, the Lord has added a brother from the Far West. Rajan Chaudhary now is in Baitadi as a missionary from a local church; he had never been in the mountain as he grew up in a plain area. This 18-year-old brother is going to labor for the Lord in that mountainous area. He is going to stay in Dehimandu for over a month with a mother and then he is going to live in Haat, where we have been laboring for years. Please pray for Brother Rajan that the Lord goes before him in that very hard place and that He provides for his every need. We are in need of more evangelists and national missionaries. Please pray with us as the Lord commanded to pray for the laborers.
Once again, thank you very much for your continuous prayers and kind support for this partnership ministry, and also for donating for the jeep. This thing is going to help us a lot to spread the Gospel. We ask God's abundant blessings upon you, upon your family, and upon your work. We covet your continuous partnership in this labor for the Lord.
Now, the monsoon starts and I guess you can only hear more news from this dusty, muddy, polluted, crowded, YET Gospel-needy city of Kathmandu where we are getting running water in our rented apartments after many months, simply because the Lord has sent the rain (not some make-believe hindu rain god). We are very happy to have running water and more power in these days. God is really good!
