cross-walking

Cross-Walking through Downtown Missoula

The team is headed out to do some cross-walking, along a spur route from Missoula to Seeley where we aim to connect with #TheLongWalkUSA main route as it turned north toward Seeley Lake back during the summer of 2023.

Yesterday, we wrapped up our time with Brother Shawn Holes in downtown Missoula where a bunch of folks were gathered for some outdoor live music and food trucks. We walked through Caras Park with the cross and gave out a bunch of Gospel tracts. We also did a little preaching down by the bus station and sang some hymns in the open air. I was very blessed all of our volunteers. They were bold and gave out a lot of Gospel tracts.

Yesterday evening, we hiked up Jumbo Mountain and shared Israeli coffee over a teaching on the importance of honoring our commitments to the Lord and our brethren in Christ. I shared an account from the 1920s Afghan frontier where Ahmed Ghul, a former Muslim, chose to keep his word to the Lord and ultimately paid for it with his life. It’s a convicting tale, a true tale of faith and commitment that puts many of us American Christians to shame. As we talked of these things, Ari from Missoula walked up. We shared with him a cup of Israeli coffee, and he took a Gospel tract. That makes for two nice Gospel encounters on two summits in a row—Jake & Ari. It’s fun to whip these kids into shape for Ladakh on the hills around this place. Last night’s sunset was absolutely glorious.

Today, we are picking up from yesterday’s trailhead and walking west through East Missoula and up Highway 200 along the river a bit. We shall see who the Lord puts into our path.

Tomorrow, we head to Madison County. We’ll be doing some cross-walking and street witnessing there, visiting the old courthouse, and attending Judge Berger’s court on Monday. We also hope to bless a small congregation in Harrison who prayed for us throughout the Madison County ordeal. We’ll pop in on Sunday morning with our team to worship alongside these brethren and hopefully encourage them in the Lord. Please pray for fruitful outreach. There are about 40 miles of paved highway in Madison County that I have yet to walk with my cross. We hope to finish that up this summer, Lord willing.

Thank you for helping to hold the ropes for us in prayer and support. Pray the Lord continues to provide for our needs and for that of our volunteers, all of whom have taken a big step of faith to be a part of this work.
